Bomaderry Veterinary Hospital consists of the main Hospital, a purpose-built multimillion dollar building, opened in August 2022. The Culburra branch is also housed in a purpose-built hospital, whilst the second branch is a long-standing facility in Shoalhaven Heads. Vets rotate between the three clinics, with the majority of time spent in the main Hospital.

We currently have 7 full-time vets and 4 part-timers. The team is very collaborative and are genuinely interested in helping each other out with cases. There is a broad spectrum of experience and special interests throughout the practice with experienced Surgeons able to tackle most cases. We are also involved in a large amount of canine reproduction work, performing TCI’s and Caesareans regularly. Orthopaedic cases are generally treated in house. Greyhound cases are also an interesting part of the practice caseload.

We see about 30% large animals, mainly consisting of pleasure horses, small ruminants and Beef and Dairy cattle. There is regular Cattle Pregnancy testing and Herd Health work undertaken.

Being two hours from the nearest referral facility, we manage most of our work in house, but when needed, we have dedicated owners who are willing to refer. We have plenty of equipment to help us provide the upmost patient care, including Digital Radiography, full suite of in-house IDEXX equipment (Procyte Dx, Catalyst DX, Coag, SediVue DX, VetStat), Rigid and Flexible Video Endoscopy, Colour Doppler Ultra-sound, and iM3 Dental equipment, etc.

We also have a full set of Surgery Toys to play with for use in Orthopaedic procedures, MMP/TTA, TPLO, Locking Plating kits, Ridgestop Patella repair kit etc.

Fully stocked large animal/on call vehicles are provided and shared between the vets.

We have dedicated receptionist staff and veterinary nurses. Core nursing staff are highly trained and efficient, and we also have new and recently qualified nurses who are already amazing and are receiving excellent training from the team.

The vets’ roster is based around a 4-day working week, and after working a weekend, you have a 4-day weekend. After hours are shared evenly between the full-time vets, and we utilise the Medechat Vet 24/7 service to minimise call.  Weekends are staffed by 2 vets, who share the on-call work. This means you are never on call more than one night in a row!

We also have a nursing on-call roster, so help is always available if needed. Renumeration is paid at an above Award hourly rate, and you are well compensated for any overtime, which is generally not excessive.

Bomaderry is located on the sunny South Coast of NSW, on the northern side of the Shoalhaven River, about 2 hours south of Sydney, 20 minutes from pristine Jervis Bay and the surf beaches of Culburra and Shoalhaven Heads. Looking westwards the surrounding State and National parks offer camping, climbing and bushwalking. We have a multitude of good schools, several large private and government employment bases, good sporting facilities and lots of cultural opportunities.
